ASI Proves It’s Leadership in Quality Production Services

“You know what’s interesting about ASI Productions?” says Michael Goldman, long time entertainment and technical producer. “It’s not so much one project that’s ‘wowed’ me; they have wowed me on a regular basis. They are very good at making detailed quality work look mundane because they do it so well and so fast.

The ASI story started almost twenty-six years ago, when the idea of ASI Production Services was conceived by Dennis Smith and Janet Smith as a sound and light company; ideafactory.jpgthey soon realized, those two aspects of the industry were already well-covered by many of their friends and professional associates. The next logical step was to provide support for that segment of the production industry and apply their talents and resources to the drapery niche; since then… the drapery niche has been filled like no other.

Although the rapidly growing company was founded on providing drapery, it was soon necessary to expand into related areas of the production industry. Dennis and Janet realized, after drapery, it was necessary to be a source for stage risers and elevated seating; the combination of the staging and drapery are still the bread and butter of ASI. A short time later, came the addition of custom and stock scenery.

Keeping a finger on the pulse of the marketplace, ASI soon expanded into mobile staging. They took notice of the mobile stages on site at several events throughout the country and eventually solidified a friendship with Yvan Miron, President of Stageline. Dennis Smith has acknowledged, “We’re known for doing large stages and felt like we should jump in on that technology. Happily…Stageline welcomed us.”

The year 2008 has been a strong year for the production industry; one with many distinctive highlights for ASI Production Services. A specific crowning moment came from an alliance with sister affiliate, All Staging Unlimited, a scenic fabrication company. The two companies provided the new and innovative Automated Roll Screens, (5 at 40’ in length each), Decking and a large quantity of Black Velour Drapery for the Event Solutions, Opening General Session in Las Vegas, Nevada. Thousands of our industry peers were looking upon ASI Production Services and All Staging Unlimited as the screens performed in beautifully choreographed unison, it was definitely the cutting edge of “WOW Factor”. The Opening and Closing Sessions were flawless; simultaneously and a short distance away, the 2008 Fabulous Showcase was taking place at The Pavilions in The Worldasi1.jpg Market Center. This event was making an equally strong impact with 455 ASI Risers and 4000’ of 22’ Tall Softgoods, in assorted colors of Velour’s and Sateens. Just a road trip away, the 2008 NCAA Semi Finals were wowing fans in Detroit, Michigan; this event was also a slam dunk on the 2008 hit list of accomplishments. ASI Production Services provided Seven Semi Tractor Trailers laden with 1,200 Staging Risers. These Risers were designed and installed at multiple levels for the semi final NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association); within days of the “massive” NCAA install, ASI installed an additional 400 Plus risers for the Houston Semi Finalist in the NCAA Competition.

Whether the event is large or small, ASI Production Services, Inc. provides full installation services for their entire inventory of Velour Drapery, Fiber Optic Star Drapes, Scrims, Cycs, decorative Sateens, Traveler Tracks and much more. Their staging capabilities include thousands of rated stage decks for indoor and outdoor use, custom seating risers, and the newest addition to their inventory, Stageline Mobile Stages. The separate but wholly owned scenic division, All Staging Unlimited, handles all stock and custom scenic elements. The Olympics and several Superbowl productions have benefited from their handiwork.

Some things change and some things remain the same. “We’re proud of the fact the company fuels its own growth,” Janet states. “We reinvest into the company continually asi2.jpgtaking it show by show and constantly evaluating,” Dennis says. “If a client asks us for something, and it’ll make him or her happy, we do our best to get it.”

Today, ASI Production Services supports five offices nationwide and employ more than 80 plus professionals. The offices are located in Orlando, Atlanta, South Florida, Dallas and Las Vegas. ASI has grown rapidly but our resolve to support the Production Industry and the changing needs of our clients remains steadfast.

“That’s why our growth has been rapid—we don’t say no,” Janet adds. “We make every effort to completely satisfy the client. One of the things that have made us successful is the quality of people we have working here. They are the reason for our growth and our success. Our Team’s talent, skill, and enthusiasm keep ASI going and growing”.
